One
of the reasons for Eagle's success is its ability to produce
grades that work in applications where the competitor products
can't. At Eagle we never give up with our quest for better,
more "user friendly" grades. Because this process
of refining grades is very expensive and takes years of testing
and customer feedback, we regard our formulations as being pretty
much a trade secret.
Below you will
find our simplified application recommendations for Eagle's standard
grades. As always our technical staff is on hand to answer any
questions you may have.

Saw
tip grades...starting with the
hardest.
All
Eagle grades are compatible with industry standards.
|
RX3D
(This grade comparable to industry C4+)
Available in metric and some non-metric sizes; call for availability.
This is one of the hardest micrograin grades available anywhere.
Perfect for particle board and man made laminates where impact
is not a factor. Its performance in glue line situations is
unparalleled. It can be a demanding grade to braze due to its
very high hardness. Use of trimetal shim is highly recommended
when brazing RX3D.

|
RK01S
(This
grade comparable to industry C4)
Still our most popular micrograin grade and is available from
stock for most secondary wood application. Superb on man made
materials, plywood, MDF, and laminates. Its slightly lower hardness
compared to RX3D makes it more forgiving to braze and grind. However,
care should be taken, and use of trimetal shim will reduce chances
of failure due to heat stress.

|
RK10
(This
grade comparable to industry C3)
This is one of the best all-purpose secondary wood grades anywhere,
and our most popular. Available from stock in all secondary saw
tip sizes, this grade will run all day in light to medium impact
situations. It brazes and grinds with ease, yet gives amazing
performance as far as life and durability are concerned. If you
are having breakage problems with other people's C3, try RK10.
|
| RK
25 (This
grade comparable to industry C2)
This is our general purpose grade. Stocked in both secondary
and primary size tips, this grade is to be used when your customer
needs a saw that is required to run different species from one
day to the other. Can be used by saw mills in the summer time
where tip life is important and impact is not severe. |
| RK35
(This
grade comparable to industry C1)
The unbeatable old favorite of saw mills everywhere. RK35 is
the grade to use for all hardworking sawmill operations. RK35
is available from stock in all the popular primary wood and
lumber tips. Giving good tip life combined with high impact
characteristics, this grade just keeps on running in all but
the most severe winter conditions. |
| RK45 Super tough edger grade for green lumber. This virtually unbreakable grade is designed for torch brazing and high stress cutting conditions
such as frozen wood, small nails, rocks and other foreign objects. |
| EZ55 For
Nail Cutting. This is the toughest grade you will
find. We developed EZ55 in response to requests for a carbide
saw tip that would hold up in the pallet recycling industry
and yet be brazeable and economical to buy. Available in certain
special sizes used for pallet saws, this grade will
braze very easily and cut through pallet nails as if they
weren't there. |
